Short Biography

Seit Kaskabassov is a prominent scientist and folklorist, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philology and Professor. Beginning from the 1960s, his scientific research and social-pedagogical activity has been closely related to the development of Kazakh folklore studies and national literary studies. He made a great contribution to the development of folklore studies in the Republic and to the formation of the foundations of such areas of Kazakh folklore studies as mythology and oral prose.
